I just took delivery of a modern day successor to those BL products - an MG3 HYBRID Trophy. Everything on it all works, but then of course this MG like all current MG s is built in China Who now own the MG brand. Truth is back when that video was made nobody believed that poor quality would see the eventual collapse of British owned mass car production. I bet they showed this to new employees to spark initiative in them, encouraging them to bring up problems, but they would have just been shut down anyway, and their ideas stolen by their boss. Sometimes problems in a company run so deep.

Really enjoyed this! Leyland simply became unmanageable and the metro didn't save them. It's a shame as they employed so many people with thousands of suppliers. It's quite reminiscent of our government at the moment! It definitely was a different time; the attitude towards women especially but that said it was a simpler time when folks just had no filter... Imagine time traveling to a pub in the midlands back then and explain trans or the 'Me too' movement? BTW the end was brutal!!

Laughable! British Leyland the insolvent shut down shop is giving lectures. If they were so good at doing quality then why did they fail? That is why I am highly suspicious of tight jacketed suited booted consultants. They have whims that only they comprehend. Leaving before implementation is consulting, which means the management and the workers have to pick up the scrap left behind.

Cracking little film that!, I used to work with heavy plant on Motorway Construction work although a few years later than this. What this film shows well is the pace we all had to go at, look at the guy on the 627 with just a Fly Screen and no Cab! In later years we had twin engined scrapers with cabs although by the time I was doing this it was all Dozers, rigid and AWD Dumptrucks with Excavators of all sizes. PFA was a good solution for that job and it did find its way into other types of Construction but now of course we know it isn’t good for the Planet.

21:50 Good old British Leyand solution. Instead of working on the actual faulty part, they make the tolerances between crankshaft and conrod so big that the fault is 'solved'. No wonder Range Rovers and SD1 were so unreliable. Cheers
